Please, help my friend Julian
recover this stolen artwork.

I had one of my sculptures stolen from my front yard .... This guy weighs about two hundred pounds and is made of cast iron.... it took two people, a dolly, and a truck to move it.

This is a large outdoor piece that is around 4' tall .... I have spent over one hundred hours making it and have a considerable amount of money tied up in the materials....

I am offering a reward if we can get someone prosecuted for this.

UPDATE: From: "julian vandercook" Date: Sun, 20 Jun 2004

My sculpture was found at the corner of 7th Street and Virginia in an alley and was returned this Saturday at 6 PM. The sculpture has no damage (woo hoo !! ). The girl that returned it saw the photo in the paper while she was on her break at work. I am glad that this story has a happy ending. I never would have been able to get it back without the support of all my friends family and fellow
artists. Because of the many people who forwarded my email and a press release from Jason and Stephanie at The Trunk Space, I was able to get an article in the Coronado neighborhood dispatch, Arizona Republic, news channel 3, news channel 10, and news channel 12. I am sure that this is what pressured the thieves to ditch the sculpture. I will be reinstalling Freedom in my front lawn next week. Sad to say it will be secured to the ground this time. Boy this has been an eye opening experience for me. Thanks for the help. Julian
